Is Kapa Haka good for us?
Personally, Kapa Haka has been good for me. I am half Maori and I have learned more about my culture through Kapa Haka at school, than I do at home. I feel that the more I learn about myself, the more confident I am as a person.
The thing I love most about Kapa Haka is that I am part of a group that supports each other so no one is left behind. As a team, we all learn together and I can rely on my team to help me through the practices and performance. We all feed off each others nerves and energy to perform our best and always feel a sense of accomplishment afterwards. I have formed many friendships through my Kapa Haka group at school.
Although Kapa Haka is performed as a group, there are opportunities for individual roles within. I have lead the karanga and some waiata’s which was a privilege and a real confidence booster. I gained leadership skills that has helped me become a school leader today. This is my last year to be part of my school Kapa Haka team before I leave for Intermediate so now I take on the role as a teacher to pass on my knowledge to teach the next leaders so they too can lead with confidence and be role models for the next group.
Kapa Haka is a fun and engaging way to learn te reo Maori. It’s a great way to introduce and showcase the native language in NZ schools. I have learnt basic words and phrases in te reo that has strengthened my bond with my Nana because I am able to understand her when she asks me to do something and she relishes the opportunity to teach me new words.
Overall, Kapa Haka has helped me in various meaningful ways from making friends, gaining confidence and building connections, that has positively affected the way I live and learn which is why I think Kapa Haka is good for us.

Are video games good for learning at school?
Would it surprise you to hear that there are factual studies that support the use of video gaming and how it helps with child development? That is why I believe that video games are good for learning.
All games have obstacles that the player must overcome, from puzzle games to adventure action games. These require problem solving skills, critical thinking, strategising and concentration. The best thing is, the player is having way too much fun to realise that they are actually gaining all these important life skills.
Multiplayer games encourage players to either show some leadership skills by leading a team or to work as part of a group to achieve the same goal. This involves communication, cooperation and collaboration. It also helps with their social skills while building up each others confidence.
Technology is forever changing the way we live our lives and there’s no escaping it in the future so by playing video games, it may interest the player to learn basic technical skills such as coding and programming.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that students will strongly benefit from playing video games at school as long as it is responsibly timed and managed by teachers.

Fussy Felicia
Please I am WARNING you do not open this book please please please do not open it, don't even turn to the next page. If you do I want to remind you I warned you! It all started in Bumblebee Hive School. At Bumblebee Hive School there were lots of different kids like Mischievous Maisie being Mischievous,Teller Tyra telling off people wherever she goes,Sizzling Sarah is always mad rumour has it when she gets really mad steam comes out of her ears. Anyways let's talk about the terrible main character Fussy Felicia. Fussy Felicia just moved town because of an incident that occurred. The poor little citizens that lived in the town had to move houses.Anyways she moved to another little town which her parents really like but they knew the Fussy Felicia wouldn mess it up anyways cos that's just who Fussy Felicia is they relied on bumble bee hives to set there child straight. The first day of school was very exciting for Fussy Felicia's parents they were going to have the day out. They were rushing Fussy Felicia to get changed but she couldn't decide what to wear.'Should I where my pink dress or should I where my yellow jumpsuit' Fussy Felicia could not decide she ended up wearing everything she had in the closet to school. It took a while to put all of it on so obviously she was late to a first day of school. Her teacher was called Mrs Pot, She's nicest teacher on campus at least that's what Fussy Felicia got told Mysterious Maisie. Fussy Felicia walked in the class room confident that she wouldn't get in trouble for being late. On her way in she sore Mysterious Maisie walk out of the room, when she fully in the room Ms Pot started yelling at her for being late to her class it look like an angry mob was yelling at her. She got sent to the principal's office her parents had to cut their lunch short to pick her up. They were so mad they sent her to her to her bed room. When she looked out the window she saw a town a town she did not like she had a master plan to change the whole town. she didn't waste any time she started preparing her bags full of all colourful things like bows pom-poms and silly string her master plan is was coming together.6:00 on the dot she said she was going to bed but he snuck out of the window to start decorating the town ! She was very MAD at Mrs Pot so she started with her house she could not decide where to start she did a little spray at the top with silly string but then she rubbed it out it was too high she put some down the bottom of the house but obviously it was too low for her she rubbed it out then she put some in the middle but it was too well centred , it took her all night to decide where to put it she put a pink pom-pom on the left side but she couldn't resist them she's too fussy she needed to centre it then she needed to put it up high then she needed to put it down low. It was nearly morning she tried to rush and spray some silly string on the houses but there was no more left choosing so fussy she used all her supplies.Fussy Felicia was so tired she couldn't even walk back to her house Miss pot found her in front of her house with lots of silly string cans she showed the town what she tried to do and they kicked her out of the town. They never saw Fussy Felicia ever again. THE END

How to make Sapasui
For writing this week we had to do something based of Samoa because of course it is Samoan Language Week. I chose to write a recipe about a delicious Samoan dish Sapasui.
Ingredients: Beef,2x packets of vermicelli noodles,Soy sauce,Canola oil,2x bubs garlic,lx large brown onion and 1/2 ginger root.
1. Slice meat into bite size pieces and cook on the stove with oil over medium heat
2. Now get your vermicelli noodles and soak them in cold water to soften them- set aside
3. Peel and crush garlic
4. Peel and crush ginger
5. Peel and slice the onion
6. Trim vermicelli with scissor to shorten the noodles- drain
7. Add ingredients to meat one at a time
8. Start by adding 1/2 a cup of oil-stir
9. Add a handful of onion- stir
10.Add garlic-stir
11. Add remaining onion-stir
12. Leave for a few minutes then add enough soy sauce to cover the meat ( a generous pour)
13. Simmer for a few minutes before adding the vermicelli-bit by bit keep stirring
14. Stir until all the noodles have turned brown
15. Add one cup of water
16. Cover and leave to cook for 5 minutes
17. Serve with rice or taro
18.Sit back and eat your delicious Sapasui.
