Sonshine Ranch

I've been literally counting down the days til December 11th and finally the day had arrived. The Year 4's are on their way to Sonshine Ranch and I am one of them. We went there last year so I was really excited to see the horses again and looking forward to the zip line. This year was extra cool because my Mum tagged along as a parent helper and I get to share my fun with her but it was also a little sad because last year I was on this trip with a really good friend of mine who sadly isn't here anymore. But I know she would've wanted me to have fun because that was the kind of friend she was. And I didn't let her down. The Year 4's were split into groups and my group's first activity was the zip line and rope swing. It was amazingly spine-tingling just as I remembered however it was over in a flash. Next activity on the timetable was definitely my favourite. Horse riding of course. I got assigned to Saphire who was a stunning white horse. She took me around the arena a few times before venturing out onto the dirt track. I even got to feed her in the stables after our ride. It was epic! There were dogs, ducks, bunny's and goats that we got to pat and feed too. Before I knew it, it was lunchtime followed by our last activity for the day. It was one that we didn't get to do last year so I was a little nervous but mostly amped. It turned out that archery was way more challenging than it looked but it was still fun in a competitive way. My aim was to at least get one of my three arrows on the target but embarrassingly I missed every shot. While we were waiting for our turn to shoot, we played a game of throw the horse shoe in the bucket. I had better luck with that landing most of my throws in. We ended the day with a quick play on the playground together with all the other groups before we boarded the bus back to school. I totally enjoyed my trip, even the long treks inbetween each activity. I was exhausted by the end of it but not as exhausted as my Mum.
