Writing about myself was more challenging than I thought. But I had fun and I  learnt more about myself in the process.

 

T2W7 LCS - Leaves

There are different types of leaves and I learnt about the different parts of a leaf and what each part does.

This week I learnt how to work out multiplication problems by using Blocks, Roundabouts and Halving and Doubling.

T2W7 - Reading

This week I learnt how to find the main idea of a story and I added a new word to my vocab...comeuppance.

Greek Mythology

The Greeks had numerous gods and many stories and myths. I researched and learnt about some of their gods and goddesses this week.

The Lockdown was Usual Enough - Writing

Today I replaced some words from a poem to describe what lockdown was like in my bubble.

My Bubble Memories

I was in a small bubble of four, me, my brother, my Mum and my Dad. My Dad was an essential worker so he was the only one that popped our bubble. He was also our designated shopper because he was already out and about.

The biggest change was our school life. Surprisingly I really enjoyed being home-schooled. It was weird at first not having my teacher around to ask for help but me and my brother helped each other and Mum was there too if we really got stuck. I really missed my friends though. Especially from week two of home-schooling. 

My typical school day would start off when our alarm for school would go off at 7am like normal. We'd get up, make our beds, make ourselves breakfast, brush our teeth and get into comfy clothes ready for our google meets at 9am. I liked not wearing school uniform. Once or twice I wore my pajama bottoms for my google meetings. I liked how I could sit on the couch and do my work too. The meeting would end about 9.30-10am and that's when we would have fruit for morning tea. I tried to do all my reading and start my maths before then. Cruze and I have tried to beat my Mum at handball but she's the raining champ. Then after morning tea I'd finish my maths and work on my writing which would take me ages. Then lunch would be freshly served and about midday. I loved our home lunches. They were often hot and fresh off the stove. Yum! Sometimes, we would go across the road where the rugby park is and kick the ball around or do drop kicks over the post. After lunch I would finish my creates and bling out my slides so I could post it by 3pm. If the weather was nice, my brother and I would jump on the tramp until dinner or play tag around the house.

There were a lot of social changes like group gatherings are not allowed so we couldn't go to church or even visit Nana and Papa. I'd see heaps of people wearing face masks and gloves. There were long queues of people lining up at the supermarket. Dad said that there were empty shelves so some people must have been panic shopping and there was a flour shortage. I live on a main road which is usually very busy with cars but the roads were quiet during lockdown. Probably because everything was shut.

I liked lockdown because I got to spend heaps of fun time with my family and I will always remember my 9th birthday because I celebrated it in isolation.
